The last part of the journey in Beijing was the visit of the Great Wall, more specifically the Badaling portion, which is the most popular area of the Great Wall, and has been specially adapted for the tourists. There are still many portions of the Great Wall which haven't been renovated and some are even forbidden to the public. The choice to go to Badaling was mainly due to the fact that it was very accessible. It is 80km far away from Beijing, and you can easily reach it by bus, train (the less expensive method: 2 euro per person), or taxi ( for like 100 euros, which is obviously exagerated ).
The journey has started very early in the morning. We had the chance of having a guide from Beijing which explained to us what was happening in all the difficult moments we encountered (and they were quite a few I would say) . At 07:30 we were already waiting in line to buy tickets from the East Train Station of Beijing. After 15 minutes of waiting, we have been anounced that there were no tickets left for the 9:00 o'clock train. We had to wait untill 11:00 to take the next train, which would have meant to reach Badaling by 13:00. On a very hot summer day (45 degrees outside) we were actually not so happy anymore about the visit.

Food in China
This post is going to be dedicated ENTIRELY to the food in China. It's been quite a while since I wanted to publish it, especially as
for me, the "Little pleasures of life " blog includes the pleasure to taste and enjoy great food, especially quality food.
The food experience in China was quite unique because there are so many choices and varieties that you end up being astonished every time you eat in a restaurant.
I will try to present some of the things I have tried, knowing that for most of them I don't know their names, or entirely their composition. Sorry about the quality of the image, at that time I was only interested in the tast
Yellow Moutains - a sunrise journey
The journey to the Yellow Moutains started at the bottom bus stop from Huangshan, early in the morning. As this mountain is quite famous for its scenery, all the websites recommended to climb the mountain on foot in order to take a glimpse of every stone and peak that will rise in your way. The climbing took about 3.5 hours , with many stops due to the heavy stairs that you have to climb.
But the road was full of young and old people, everyone of them trying to do their best to climb up as fast as possible.
What amazed me the most was to see men carrying heavy burdens on their shoulders. They were carrying sodas, water, fruits and food t
Hangzhou - the road to your inner self
Hangzhou left me with an amazing feeling of belonging to another world. Everything here is so far away from everything I knew in Europe. The people, the food, the lake, the religion, the flavors, the scents that blew me away and wanting to taste everything and explore more and more.
I visited the city and its surrounding in August and I must say that here I experienced the highest temperature and humidity in my life. It was therefore mandatory to rent a bike and do the tour of the West Lake which is quite big with beautiful scenarios to be seen.
I was first impressed by the huge plantations of Lotus Flowers. Apparently the Lotus flower love
Shanghai - the modern city of constrasts
When I think about Shanghai the first thing that comes in my mind is the bloody sunset I have seen from the Oriental Pearl Tower, which is a 468 meters tower, located in the business district of Shanghai.
The tower has also transparent glass floors at the last floor so that you can experience a unique feeling of walking up high in the sky while seeing everything that's down at the base of the tower.
The experience was quite noisy and extremely busy, but that is normal in China.
If you like to see the city from the Huangpu River, do not hesitate to take a cruise and enjoy a ride in near the Bund, while admiring the futuristic architecture r
