Beijing Food market by littlepleasureslife

This post is going to be dedicated ENTIRELY to the food in China. It's been quite a while since I wanted to publish it, especially as
for me, the "Little pleasures of life " blog includes the pleasure to taste and enjoy great food, especially quality food.

The food experience in China was quite unique because there are so many choices and varieties that you end up being astonished every time you eat in a restaurant.

I will try to present some of the things I have tried, knowing that for most of them I don't know their names, or entirely their composition. Sorry about the quality of the image, at that time I was only interested in the taste of the meals :)

Here we go:
  • Pekin Duck: is a traditional dish in Pekin(Beijing) and has a special way of being served with pancakes, cucumbers and sweet bean sauce. You will fill yourself the pancake with sliced duck meat, vegetables and sauce and eat it like a wrap. You can find the description of the cooking process here. The taste of the meat is different from the usual taste we know here in Europe, as it's more saucy, crunchy and tasty.

  • Exotic Food market: when I say exotic, I refer to all the weird animals and insects that you won't ever think of eating. In a central food market in Beijing you can try scorpions, snakes, small fried birds, grasshoppers and sooo many others. Have a look at the photos. Which one would you eat ??

  • Chicken Stew : served with brown rice is definitely an amazing dish. Although I was used to the chicken stew even in the Chinese restaurants in Europe, I must say that the way they cook the chicken stew in China is really amazing. Could it be the local mushrooms they have used? I will never know, but I will definitely buy this again.
