Hangzhou left me with an amazing feeling of belonging to another world. Everything here is so far away from everything I knew in Europe. The people, the food, the lake, the religion, the flavors, the scents that blew me away and wanting to taste everything and explore more and more.
I visited the city and its surrounding in August and I must say that here I experienced the highest temperature and humidity in my life. It was therefore mandatory to rent a bike and do the tour of the West Lake which is quite big with beautiful scenarios to be seen.
I was first impressed by the huge plantations of Lotus Flowers. Apparently the Lotus flower loves the hot humid climate of the area, therefore you could see large portions of the river covered up by lotus. It was more interesting for me as I saw that people were collecting the seeds of the lotus flower once they were faded away, and sold it on the streets. I don't know if it's edible, but I assumed so, as there were many people selling or buying them.
The lake has an amazing vegetation, which I usually saw only in botanical gardens. Huge plants, flowers, bamboos trees and even frogs and turtles. When riding along the lake, a necessary stop would be the LINGYIN TEMPLE, a Buddhist temps which is located in the Wulin Mountain near the West Lake. The translated name of the Temple would be: "Temple of the Soul's Retreat", which is quite exactly how you feel when you travel up there: like you retreat your soul in a quiet and calm place.
In order to reach the temple one has to make the journey on foot, passing by statues of the Laughing Buddha sculpted inside the rocks of the Wulin Mountains. The temple has different levels, each level containing several halls:
The thing that most impressed me was the traditional Buddhist ceremony which I discovered when entering one of the halls of the temple. The singing, the ritual, the smell of the burned scent were things that kept me hypnotized, looking as a small child at this whole ceremony of peace and serenity.

Food in China
This post is going to be dedicated ENTIRELY to the food in China. It's been quite a while since I wanted to publish it, especially as
for me, the "Little pleasures of life " blog includes the pleasure to taste and enjoy great food, especially quality food.
The food experience in China was quite unique because there are so many choices and varieties that you end up being astonished every time you eat in a restaurant.
I will try to present some of the things I have tried, knowing that for most of them I don't know their names, or entirely their composition. Sorry about the quality of the image, at that time I was only interested in the tast
Yellow Moutains - a sunrise journey
The journey to the Yellow Moutains started at the bottom bus stop from Huangshan, early in the morning. As this mountain is quite famous for its scenery, all the websites recommended to climb the mountain on foot in order to take a glimpse of every stone and peak that will rise in your way. The climbing took about 3.5 hours , with many stops due to the heavy stairs that you have to climb.
But the road was full of young and old people, everyone of them trying to do their best to climb up as fast as possible.
What amazed me the most was to see men carrying heavy burdens on their shoulders. They were carrying sodas, water, fruits and food t
Shanghai - the modern city of constrasts
When I think about Shanghai the first thing that comes in my mind is the bloody sunset I have seen from the Oriental Pearl Tower, which is a 468 meters tower, located in the business district of Shanghai.
The tower has also transparent glass floors at the last floor so that you can experience a unique feeling of walking up high in the sky while seeing everything that's down at the base of the tower.
The experience was quite noisy and extremely busy, but that is normal in China.
If you like to see the city from the Huangpu River, do not hesitate to take a cruise and enjoy a ride in near the Bund, while admiring the futuristic architecture r

8th of March was definitely a sunny and lazy day for me. So I really enjoyed talking a walk in a typical French city, which is called Metz, from the Lorraine region of France.
It's like nature was relaxing in the sun and everybody was enjoying life...There were many ducks and swans on the river which passes the city...It was just amazing...
Here you have a glimpse of it.
And how did you guys spent your 8th of March?
